Description

What does unseasoned mean?

These logs have only recently been processed, and as a result are not yet suitable for use.

They are ready to be dried either by natural methods (sun and wind) or via a kiln.

Benefits of hardwood

  • This type of wood burns slowly, providing a slow and steady heat output.

Minimal carbon footprint

  • Our wood is sourced locally from FSC managed sustainable woodland in Yorkshire. It is no further than 75 miles from our woodyard and farm.
  • All packaging is locally sourced too, and is recycled or recyclable.
  • Our crates are made on-site with softwood, and we reuse them along with our pallets.
  • We use recycled polythene for our packaging, that has been sourced and printed in the UK.

Sustainability

  • Sustainability is a cornerstone of our business and a guiding factor in our company decision making. To this end we have planted over 500,00 trees, and we also donate to the Woodland Trust’s woodland management projects.
  • The Logwise Quality Assured scheme gives further information on wood types we use, as well as the woodland each piece of timber came from.

Suitability

  • Our hardwood logs are suitable for stoves, fireplaces and open fires.
  • Our large hardwood logs are suitable for large stoves and biomass boilers.

Storage

  • These logs will be delivered in mosquito net bags with vented sides: the most efficient way to store such logs while keeping them clean.
  • We recommend storing these logs in a wood store, garage, or shed.

Size

  • Our logs are cut to 23 cm length, then split to 5-15 cm (+/- 5%)
  • We offer large hardwood logs, cut to 30 – 45 cm in length.
  • We also offer smaller logs, cut to lengths of a maximum of 20 cm
